I am finally taking the plunge, after years of dreaming and planning, and launching my own blog.
I’ve been wanting to do this for years. I always felt like I had a lot of creative energy to channel and no outlet to channel it into. That’s where I thought blogging would come in perfectly.
In 2015 or 2016 (can’t remember now), I took the plunge and bought my first domain name. I thought I was fancy and came up with the perfect clever name to go alongside my new life in Colorado. I mean, it was clever, but that was only relevant if I used it. I had an initial burst of inspiration and set everything up, picked a great theme, and mapped my blog to my clever domain name. Only to do nothing with it for the next 4-5 years.
At the beginning of 2020 I decided, enough is enough, time to actually work on my blog and turn it into something I knew it could be. That was short lived. I posted once LOL. Well, technically twice. Once in like January and again about 6 months later. What a waste.
In December 2020, I received an email from my domain registrar asking me if I’d be willing to sell my clever domain, someone was interested in it. I emailed them back saying sure, but I know what it’s worth, so I wouldn’t accept anything below a very ballsy 5-figure number. The rest of the month was spent with the domain broker coming back to me with lowball offers, all of which I rejected. Eventually, they agreed to my initial price and I sold my clever domain (for a hefty ROI, I might add).
I thought maybe my want to blog would die there. Without clever domain name, how would I actually build a successful blog?
Well after months of contemplating that very question, I arrived at my answer. The blog is about me and my experiences, so just use your own damn name.
So here we are. Welcome to ErinnMcCully.com, my little corner of the internet.
I intend to use this blog to share everything I find useful/helpful/beautiful about the topics I enjoy – fashion & beauty, food, travel, & all things home (homebody over here). The goal is to post weekly for now, at least until I get better at this blogging thing. I hope you enjoy my content, thanks for being here!
